Friends' Library Store
Why a Friends' Library Bookstore?
Friends of the Hutchinson Public Library operates continuously, and every week, additional books are donated for sale to Friends' customers. In the past, week-long, very hectic sales have been held to make them available ... but the sales were never long enough to find good homes for all the books. By operating an on-going store, Friends hope to serve its customers better, and to raise even more funds for the Library to use to buy new book and provide more and better services to its patrons!

What can I find at the bookstore?
All categories usually found at the book sales will be available at the store. Old and rare books, hardback and paperback fiction, children's books, coffee table volumes, classics, science and technology, cookbooks, arts and crafts, and even magazines will be offered.

The store will stock book bags, library T-shirts, note cards, and coffee cups.

Store books will sell at 1/3 or less of the market value, depending upon condition. Prices on items purchased for resale will include a modest mark-up. Old and/or rare books offered, have been researched on the Internet, and will be priced between the highest and lowest prices indicated, according to condition. Stock will be rotated to assure that fresh selections are continuously available.
What can I do?
Each volunteer will be asked to work a three hour shift on a regular basis, such as once a week, once or twice a month, or whatever suits each person's schedule. Each volunteer will be trained in his/her designated position before being expected to be responsible for a shift. There will always be two or more volunteers on duty at any given time.

Volunteers will wear badges identifying themselves as a "Friends of the Library Volunteer" while on duty.
