Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan services are suspended until further notice.  This is an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  Other libraries are also closed, preventing many orders from being fulfilled.  You may hold on to items you have from another library or you may return them in the book drop WITH THE PAPERWORK. No fines will be incurred while this service is suspended. Please watch our website for more information and updates.

We will assist you in finding materials located at other libraries. We will attempt to borrow items located within the conterminous United States, Alaska, and Mexico. We will request photocopies from libraries anywhere in the world. Filling requests may take anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks, depending upon the location and availability of the item.

The Reference staff accepts requests from patrons by e-mail, telephone, and fax. Patrons may also feel free to search either of two separate databases - the Kansas Library Catalog and WorldCat® - and inquire about submitting requests for items found there.  Contact the Head of Reference for training in submission methods and consult with the Reference staff if you have questions about any ILL transaction.

Patrons may request up to 5 items per week through Interlibrary Loan. Persons who do not have a current Hutchinson Public Library card or an account in good standing will be allowed to order books for use only in the library and photocopies which will be supplied without a checkout process.
